Exercise : Shooting from the Hip
When I first read this 'Shoooting from the Hip' I wasn't sure at all what was required - was it an expression, or actually shooting from the hip.. ?? anyway I have looked on the internet and now have a better understanding of what was required.
My set of images - which i did shoot from the hip 'ish' - were maybe a bit too careful - although I feel given the location I still would have ended up with similar images.
... Produce a set of 8 images ..

Exercise - The Journey
Visit a new place and produce a series of images in photo essay form.
My journey was to Hemmingford Abbots, actually to see a plot of land, it was a place I hadn't visited before and was very glad to see it. It was very beautiful, even on a winters day.
The images below are near enough the order that I took them in. We drove right though the village until we came to a gate leading to farmland and footpaths. We turned around here and worked back through the village.
It was quite quiet but had all you would need as a villager. The notice board - not that I ever read these, and the post box, essential, I have two in my village for some reason but we all need a post box and you always find one. Some older than others.
A very pretty street and the man walking stopped to chat, he was in his 80's and said he had lived there all his life. He told me the story of the house in the picture before, it had burnt down some years before, which was very sad. Although restored I hate fires and fire damage.
The river and properties along are really beautiful and people were pottering about, quite cold so not like the summer when I can imaging everyone comes out of their thatched cottages.
There are always children out burning off energy on a Sunday afternoon, scooters and bikes and the reluctant dog.
There are gates to the cricket ground and children park - both of which were empty - again I expect a different village in the summertime.
I photographed the site we looked at along with nearby memorial, next the cutest house, I would have to buy if this came on the market.
Next was the local hall - this is where it all happens I expect - kids parties, weddings, baazars, jumble sales. The phone box ( as per my village ) has been turned into a library with is such a good idea. You can leave books or borrow making use of the redundant boxes. Great Idea.
Of course every village should have one firstly the pub, secondly the church ! A very pretty secluded church, must be lovely for weddings.
Pretty painted cottages and a lovely house that overlooks the church completes the village.
What a lovely place, I highly recommend a visit and really pleased I made the visit.
